How much of canon do I have to know?
Your character's? You'd better know it. The setting canon, not so much. We'll be filling in with bits from Dreamwave, Marvel, Aligned, etc, to keep it fun.
So, what DO I need to know?
The infamous war between Autobots and Decepticons hasn't started yet. The Senate looks after their own and their own interests. The aristocracy leads a nice life. The bureaucracy has steady employment, but prices on everything, especially energon, are getting higher.
And the rest? Scrabbles out a living as best they can.
Clench runs an Arena, where the rich and poor can come to watch gladiators fight.
There are profitable brothels, illicit chemical and mods trades, and a thousand other ways to make a desperate living. Or to be entertained.
This corner of the universe, the Crucible of the War, has been chosen by the Thirteen to work out the future of Cybertron. They will seek to control you, influence you and through that, change the course of the future.
More about Setting and NPCs here!
Whom can I app?
You can play up to four characters (but don't app four at once, please?). You must wait two app cycles before apping a new character--we want you to have time to ground your previous one already. A player may play multiple versions of a character if AND ONLY IF there are significant differences in both canon and characterization. If you app a third character, we'll be looking to make sure they aren't all from the same faction. Variety!
You cannot app one of the Thirteen or the NPCs. And sorry, no Kiss Players. It's not widely available, you can't 'kiss' to power up since the humans will be in Cybertronian frames anyway, and also, it's icky. :P
As to who? Transformers of any continuity, of course. Previous game-canon allowed. IDW canon characters 'replace' their Kaon selves. Your character is the only version here, so, no meeting up with yourself or trying to fill in their life. They've been 'erased' from this Kaon's existence.
Humans and other fandom characters as well! Alpha Trion has plans for you. You can, if you want, choose to have Alpha Trion transfer your consciousness into a Cybertronian body, or you can just be, well, you! (For the purposes of this game, Kaon's atmosphere can support organic life).
A note: if your character pilots a non-sentient mecha, the mecha is considered part of the character--the big robot comes too! The mecha will, at least to start, have the weapons depowered, just like everyone else, and if it does not transform modes in canon, will not transform here.
What about Cassettes/Drones/Master Partners?
Drones and their abilities (such as the "Reedman" from Revenge of the Fallen, or movieverse Scorponok) should be described and detailed in the Abilities and Powers section of your Application. 'Master Partners', such as Power Master, Target Masters, and Head Masters, should have their abilities outlined in the Powers and Abilities section, as well as a paragraph detailing their personality in the Personality section. Cassettes and other stand-alone characters are not eligible as partners to be used in this manner, as that prevents another player from picking up that character for play.
Do I have powers!?!??!
As much as canon gives you, yourself. Keep in mind that everyone else has Giant War Robot powers. Super-powerful characters (such as Megatrons, Optimi, Sixshot, Nemesis, etc) will receive/negotiate limitations on their powers when they app. You will have integrated weapons and abilities (so Drift would have his swords, Skywarp his warping, etc).
If your character has magic/special powers or abilities, he or she keeps it. If the magic comes from some maguffiny artefact, talk to us on your app and we'll negotiate!
ROBOT SEX!!!11!!one!
This is a touchy subject for some. Us mods? We feel that refusing to allow romantic attachments/involvements is really truncating part of a character's experience. No one would like it in their life if they were told they could never fall in love with someone or kiss them, right? At the same time, this isn't a smut game. If you want it, go for it, if you don't, and want to play strictly gen, go for that, too!
We ask that anything over PG-13 be on the Adult Comm. Style of interfacing is up to the players but we request that it all be under a cut with the style of interfacing labeled in the header. Note: You are not tied to one form of the robosexiness.
Can I die?
It is very likely that you will die. Multiple times, in fact. That Arena is no joke! Sentinel is a bit heavy handed on those death penalties! However, the Thirteen can undo simple things like that. But at a price. So, should your character die in game, he/she will disappear for three days and then will come back to life, but you would owe whichever NPC brings you back a memory or a favor.
What's all this memory stuff?
You come into the game at what you hopefully pick as an interesting canon point. To get upgrades, or to repay favors, you may be asked to give up a memory. You have an option: One: You will not even remember the loss--if people try to tell you that this memory happened, you will likely think they're crazy and making things up, because you don't have any gap in your memory--it seems, to you, entirely intact. Or two: You feel the gap in your memory, you know something's missing, but you don't know what. The Thirteen enjoy manipulating you: feel free to choose which would be more interesting to play with your character!
You can also be rewarded with memories--getting some of those back, or even getting 'memories' further along in canon than your canon pull point--like a miniature canon update.
You can also, as a punishment, or...mistake (though are there really 'mistakes' by the Thirteen?) get wrong memories or someone else's memories instead of your own. Again, they will seem entirely yours and organic. You will be unable to tell that it's not yours. Just...suddenly you remember something entirely different.
The memory play is integral to the game, but of course, you will have every latitude to choose which memories you give up or gain and when.
Is there a plot to this game?
Yup. Periodically, the mods/mods' NPCs will stir things up--send those lazy Security Forces on raids, or cause some trouble at the Arena or an energon shortage. These are game-events. You can choose not to participate, but you cannot pretend it didn't happen. So if you're leaning toward Sentinel's side and you choose not to respond to a Senator's demand for a raid...expect consequences.
But in between that plottiness, feel free to cause mayhem and strife! (Ummm, IC, that is!)
Basic Living
Up to you, in a way. Some of the NPCs (Clench, Dai Atlas, Ratbat) have either housing set aside for their investments, or can arrange housing for mechs who are...useful. Sentinel will gladly offer you a nice comfy prison cell! Housing is not impossible to get (should you not fancy Sentinel's hospitality)--you can handwave some basic accommodation (no luxury apartments, but basic housing/food allowance) or try to rough it!
Activity!
A game needs players that play. Obviously! So we will be running regular Activity Checks.
Acceptable activity will be:
* a post on the network
* a log involving that character with at least 3 tags by that character
* Five comments in a thread to someone else's post.
Any combination of two of the three is allowed. We don't want to make AC a chore, but we do want to encourage interaction!
.
Have a question that's not covered here? Ask in comments and we'll answer and add!
